Deep Within – Subtle Edition – 30 Minutes

Deep Within utilizes a composition technique that I call “Sonic Mantras”. Sonic mantras are simply a repeating series of notes that provide a mantra-like foundation to the music. These soft, repetitive tones are musically analogous to a hypnotist’s swinging pendulum, or the chant of a monk in deep meditation.

The sonic mantra in Deep Within is quite a low bass sound which gently pulses in a melodic, rhythmic pattern. It’s a very soothing sound that maintains its constant, reliable presence throughout the music.

In contrast to the regularity of the bassline, the higher melodies that you’ll hear in Deep Within are intentionally loose and free- roaming. They casually drift this way and that, nonchalant and carefree.

I love the way these sounds combine – the hypnotic, structured regularity of the bassline and the tranquil wanderings of the melody. It just works!
