Licensing for Music Distribution in Apps
Do you need a license to distribute our relaxing music in your app? We'd love to hear from you.
All the music available from Enlightened Audio is owned by the composer, Christopher Lloyd Clarke. Our standard license terms do not permit Christopher's music to be distributed in its original form (without a voiceover). However Christopher can grant music distribution licenses on a case by case basis.
Apps that distribute music (either by streaming, selling downloads or incorporating musical content) are similar in function to music services like Spotify and Apple Music. These services pay ongoing royalties to the artists they represent. It is with this model in mind that a music distribution license may be granted to you. If a music distribution license is granted then you will be required to pay ongoing royalties to Christopher directly for the use of his music. Typically these payments are made on a quarterly basis.
Every app is different
Every app is different in terms of how it functions, how it is marketed, and how it is priced. For this reason, it is completely impossible for us to create a single license agreement that would accommodate every app.
…So the license terms will be customised for you
We will discuss your app with you and create license terms that suit the needs of your particular app. The terms of this agreement are negotiated on a case by case basis.
To get the ball rolling, simply contact us and provide as much information as you can about your app and Christopher will review it personally. The following questions are examples of the kind of information we need to know in order to create a license for you. If you don't know the answers to these questions or if you wish to keep some information confidential, please feel free to leave out any information as you see fit.
- What is your app called and what does it do?
- Is your app available now or is it still in development?
- How do you price/monetize your app? For example, do you charge app users a monthly subscription fee, do you offer in app purchases, or is your app sold for a one-time fee?
- (Optional) How many users currently use your app?
- (Optional) How many artists are currently featured in your app?
- (Optional) What is your expected annual revenue?
