The sound of a gentle breeze rustling through nearby trees and grasses. Simple, soothing and a great way to drown out the chatterbox in your mind.
We captured this rain recording near a lake in the late afternoon. No thunder, no wind, just a calm, sunlit day. As the clouds rolled in and rain started to fall, a rainbow appeared on the horizon. It might sound cheesy, but it really was one of those picturesque days.
Recorded during the early hours of the day at the world renowned Bells Beach on the southern coast of Australia. These ocean waves have a nice weight to them - not too heavy, not too weak, and they have quite a soft tonality that blends really nicely with music. Close your eyes and you'll hear the sound of a million bubbles bursting as the foam washes right up to your feet.
Tranquil Forest Birdsong is a rare gem of a recording. The sound quality is fantastic and the friendly song of these birds echoing through the trees creates a wonderful sense of space and serenity. The three-minute duration of this loop provides you with a good length of material so you can use it to create a sustained natural soundscape that won't sound looped.
This lovely soundscape was captured on the fringe of a protected nature reserve. The ocean waves have a soft tonality as I was positioned about 50 metres back from the beach, but the forest birdsong is clear and present. While listening to the birds you should be able to hear a lovely natural forest echo. That's a real forest ambience - no artificial reverberation was added to this recording. They are such happy, friendly sounding little fellows, aren't they?
After a long drive we finally reached our destination, officially known as "The Middle of Nowhere". The only indicator that humans had ever set foot in this place was the remains of an old cattle fence which had rusted down to a single wire. This windy mountainside was covered in dried grasses and a scattering of tiny birds who have added a little merriment to the location.
