Composer’s Commentary
As a musician, one of my guiding principles is to “say more with less”. I often strive to express something pure, touching and memorable with as little exertion or complexity as possible. This is easier said than done! It takes plenty of restraint, sensitivity and patience to make music that is both sparse and expressive, while resisting the temptation to embellish it with more instruments, or more notes. It’s a challenge, but one I really enjoy, and when it all comes together it’s a very rewarding experience for me as a composer, and hopefully for you too. I like to think that Quiet Wonder is a good example of this guiding principle, and a reminder that simple music can be quite affecting.
