Composer’s Commentary
There is a beautiful, but heartbreaking story behind the creation of The Temple Gardens 2. It began when I was contacted by someone who had been listening to one of my other compositions. She wrote:
“My beloved daughter died recently. This is the only music i can listen to. Indeed it resonates with peace, acceptance, and a deep respectful space in which I can hear her speak. Before she died, she wrote, “Everybody should be quiet near a little stream and listen.” This music is the little stream… and it opens the heart to listen. Thank you Christopher.”
I was so touched by this message that I had a professional calligrapher print and frame this beautiful quote so I could hang it in my recording studio. It is now on the wall just inside the front door, inspiring me to open my heart and to bring that openness and peace into my music every day.
I created the music of The Temple Gardens Volume 2 in response to this message, and to honour the idea of listening to a little stream. To me, the music invokes a clear sense of peace, present-mindedness and feelings of heartfelt appreciation for life.
It was recorded in my studio in Apollo Bay, Australia and includes original recordings of Windsong Abbey 6-Pipe wind chimes, crystal singing bowls and nature sounds from forests near to my home.
